CSERC is in the middle of another productive season of public land stewardship projects – thanks in large part to the dedicated efforts of our CSERC volunteers. We have already completed 9 different projects over 11 project days since spring!
Some of the effective work done so far includes building two new fences around damaged wetland (fen) areas; putting up seasonal fences and repairing year-round fences around five meadows; completing two miles of trail maintenance on a trail into the Emigrant Wilderness; picking up trash at popular recreation sites along the Clavey River: removing invasive plants that were infesting several acres surrounding meadows in a Rim Fire location; and replanting conifer seedlings at another Rim Fire site where trees had been completely wiped out by the fire. Volunteers and CSERC staff pose for a photo after they collectively built a wire exclosure fence to protect a nearby wetland fen, high up in the forest on the Calaveras District.
