After evaluating more than 500 photo entries, our staff has selected the winning photos in CSERC's 2023 Photo Contest. Three prizes were awarded in the Adult Contest for both the Wildlife category and the Natural Landscape category. In our Youth Contest (for photographers 16 years old and younger), one first prize was awarded and an Honorable Mention was selected for both categories.
Adult Wildlife Winners
In the Adult Wildlife category, Erik Long won first prize ($150) for his "eye" catching close up photo of a jumping spider (right). Dave Douglass was awarded the $75 second prize for his dramatic photo of a norther flicker (below).
We had a tie for third place ($50) in the Adult Wildlife category between Sharon Anderson's rare daytime photo of a great grey owl (below left) and Laura Hamilton's vibrant photo of an inquisitive grey fox (below right).
Youth Wildlife Winners
In our Youth Wildlife category, Harris Schoedl won first place ($100) with his striking photo of two cedar waxwings (below).
An Honorable Mention was awarded to both Logan Lamberson for her colorful photo of a spider on lavender (above) and Harris Schoedl for his action photo of dueling bucks (below).
Sharon Anderson was awarded third place ($50) in the Adult Natural Landscape category for her stunning photo of a mountain lake at sunset (below).
Adult Natural Landscape Winners
First place honor in the Adult Natural Landscape category ($150 prize) was awarded to Richard Brown for his captivating photo of a Phacelia wildflower (left).
Second place ($75) in the Adult Natural Landscape category was awarded to Erik Long for his photo of a twisted snag seemingly reaching for the Milky Way (below right).
Youth Natural Landscapes Winners
In our Youth Natural Landscape category, Scout Cross won first place ($100) with an exquisite photo of fungi on a log (below). An Honorable Mention was awarded to Liliana Linares for her powerful photo of Yosemite Falls (right).
