After evaluating 220 photo entries, the staff of the Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center (CSERC) in Twain Harte selected winning photos in the Center’s 2021 Photo Contest. Two adult award-winners were chosen in the Wildlife category and the Natural Landscape category, and one youth winner was chosen in each category.
Adult Wildlife Winners
In the Adult Wildlife category, Peggy Sells won first prize ($100) for her jaw dropping photo of an acorn woodpecker looking at a sleeping screech owl (right). Jessica Hadley was awarded the $50 second prize for her unusual photo of a gray fox on the side of a tree (below left).
Honorable mention for the adult Wildlife category was awarded to Larry Lew for his stunning photo of two white-faced ibises with glistening iridescent feathers (below right).
Youth 1st Place Winners
In our Youth/Teen Category for Natural Landscapes Photos, James Powell won the contest with his photo of a forest stream (below left). In our Youth/Teen Category for Wildlife Photos, Ashley S. won the contest with her photo of a ceanothus silk moth (below right).
Adult Natural Landscape Winners
First place honor in the Adult Natural Landscape category (and a $100 prize) was awarded to Christy Huff (left).
Second place ($50) for the adult Natural Landscape category was awarded to Larry Lew for his stunning scenic of poppies at Knights Ferry (below right).
Honorable mention for the adult Natural Landscape category was awarded to Dan Unger for his stunning photo of a lake in the Emigrant Wilderness (below left).
