Rare, delicate mountain lady slippers reward keen-eyed forest visitors to a moist site in a remote canyon. Miles away, along the edge of a meadow, the spherical seed-head at left awaits a soft summer breeze to disperse the seeds. Similar in size, the round Sierra puffball at right slowly dries before releasing spores amidst the pines.
There is so much beauty in the mountains for those who pause to savor it.
