The peak of snow-melt flows has yet to be reached this season, but CSERC staff has already observed some of the most spectacular whitewater that this region has seen in a long time.
Streams that are usually easy to wade through in summer, are deep and swift. Rivers that are pleasant to cool off in the heat of August, have very powerful flows right now.
Caution around high flowing waters this season is key. But slippery rocks in and along fast flowing streams and rivers is important to be cognizant of, as well. It's easy to lose footing on a slippery rock. Even a relatively small, fast-flowing stream can sweep you off your feet.
This is truly a year to remember for viewing breathtaking waterfalls and whitewater. CSERC doesn't want to discourage people from recreating in these areas this season, we just want to remind folks to use caution. Enjoy, savor and be safe!
